The Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is one of fourteen CCACs in Ontario dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life, independence, health and well-being of individuals in the communities we serve by offering a single point of access for community services and demonstrating leadership and excellence in community care.
Geographically, Champlain is one of the largest CCACs, delivering care to over 20,000 clients everyday. Our region includes Eastern Counties, Renfrew County, and a portion of Lanark, North Leeds & North Grenville, spanning a diverse demographic population of both rural and urban clients.

We are currently seeking a full-time COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR at the Head Office in Ottawa.
Position: Communications Coordinator
Description: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, this position provides oversight and management of the Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) communication efforts, including developing, planning and implementing communications about the CCAC and its programs, services, and activities; coordinates the CCAC's newsletter production, website content maintenance and operations; and advises and assists various departments on public information/relations activities.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and deliver messages that permeate all aspects of the organization.
- Seek, coordinate and implement promotional opportunities, including special events, speaking engagements, marketing collateral, web-based products and activities.
- Work with and support internal staff, Board of Directors, and stakeholder groups in preparing and delivering supporting materials that effectively market and promote the Champlain CCAC.
- Work with internal committees in the achievement of the Champlain CCAC’s strategic directions.
- Assist in the implementation of a media relations program including arranging media interviews, briefing spokespeople and media monitoring/evaluation.
- Have knowledge of and support the implementation of social media tactics to meet communications objectives.
- Develop and write content for newsletters, brochures, web, intranet, speeches and media collateral aimed at a wide range of audiences.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Communications or Journalism is preferred and 3 – 5 years of related experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to Champlain CCAC.
- Highly motivated, dynamic, skilled and creative writer for a wide variety of communications mediums coupled with an eye for detail and passion for process and organization.
- Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills with very strong attention to detail and specific experience with developing communications products in both print and electronic media.
- Very strong knowledge and experience with the newest communications technologies and tools to engage audiences in the most effective manner (eg. web and social media).
- Experience in management of web technology and web design would be an asset.
- Has demonstrated ability to establish and leverage effective working relationships.
- An anticipatory mindset to perceive and capitalize on opportunities that benefit the organization and position it for success.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and multiple deadlines, and to work well under pressure with discretion, tact and good judgement.
- High level of initiative and strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written) is required. Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
