Service Description: Integrated social services for members of the community
  • Counselling: Two social workers offer counselling, crisis intervention and referrals for Vanier residents, regardless of their status in Canada. Support groups as well as activities are also organized by the counselling team.
  • Establishment Services: A team of establishment workers offer information, support, orientation, referrals and solution-based counselling to help newcomers integrate to Canada. The team also offers help to complete forms (ex.: immigration, tax benefits, housing etc.) Visit the website for upcoming information sessions, such as canadian citizenship classes.
  • Partage Vanier Food Bank: A local food bank located at 161 Marier Avenue. Distributes quality food, other necessities and resources to people who are in need. Also has 4 new garden lots which provide fresh vegetables during the summer months.
  • Income Tax Clinic: Offered during the income tax season. Free of charge for any low income Vanier resident as of February 10th.
  • Children and Youth Programs: Recreational and prevention programs for children and youth aged 6 to 18 years old. VIsit website for more information.
  • Community Development: Programs for seniors as well as activities for residents such as block parties, community coffee-houses etc. Visit website for more information.
  • Family Services: Offers services to parents, grandparents and home caregivers of children aged from birth to 6 years old. Families can access a variety of workshops on parental skills, playgroups, services for pregnant women and new parents, a free toy lending library and resources, home visits, school readiness programs, support groups for newcomer parents and other programs based on the families needs.
  • Employment Services: Located at 270 Marier Ave. A team connects job searchers to employers by offering tools such as writing a resumé and interview strategies. Job fairs are also organized. Specialized services for students, seniors, newcomers and ODSP beneficiaries as well as for job searchers who are looking for work experience in specific fields are also offered. A computer work hall is available for clients.
  • Legal Clinic: Offers representation services as well as free legal advice in French in particular for low-income residents of Eastern Ottawa who have legal problems in social domains. The Clinic offers support when it comes to housing issues, immigration and maintaining revenue.
