Para Transpo is generally available during the same hours as OC Transpo's regular transit system. However, the majority of Para Transpo's
Service Description: Provides public transportation alternative for customers who are unable to take conventional transit (buses and O-Train) some or all of the time due to a disability.

Customers are helped in and out of vehicles and service is provided on a reservation basis from one accessible building entrance door to another. This means that drivers will help a person using a wheelchair up or down one step only.

Reservations and Cancellations: Casual bookings: To reserve transportation, call one day before service is required.
  • Regular Bookings: If you have to be at a destination on the same days at the same times each week on an ongoing basis (for at least one month) you can arrange to have regular bookings.

Attendants: an application form must be completed and returned to Para Transpo Administration * the customer’s registration file will be updated to indicate that an attendant is required for all Para Transpo trips * Customers must be six years or older. The attendant traveling with the customer will travel free * For safety reasons, persons who qualify for an attendant will only receive service when they are accompanied by an attendant.

Companions: if a companion will be accompanying you, tell the booking agent when you are making your trip reservation. Only one companion is allowed, and that person will be charged the regular fare.

Community Pass: a new inexpensive Community Pass is available to Ottawa residents who receive benefits under the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) * Registered Para Transpo customers are also entitled to purchase a Community pass whether or not they receive ODSP Benefits * The Community Pass is accepted on Para Transpo with an extra top up of either cash or bus tickets. Taxi Coupon Program: allows Para Transpo customers to take discounted taxi services as an alternative to Para Transpo. Clients can book their trip with participating taxi companies and save 40% of the regular taxi fare. Call 613-842-3670 / TTY 613-741-5280 for more information.

Application: Register by obtaining an application form from Para Transpo. The form must be signed by an appropriate health care professional such as a physician, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, or a chiropractor.
