Service Description: Home-visiting program offered to expectant mothers, and families with children from birth to their transition to school, who need more support. Visits are provided by public health nurses, a social worker and family visitors. The program offers health teaching, counseling, ongoing parenting guidance and referrals to community resources.

The program can help parents learn about:
  • having a healthy pregnancy and birth
  • connecting with their baby
  • how children grow and develop as well as what the parent can do to help
  • breastfeeding, food and healthy nutrition
  • being a parent
  • taking care of themselves and their family
  • accessing supports to cope with mental health issues and other family challenges
  • other services available in their community
