Position:  Pharmacist

Region:  Renfrew County

Description:  

We currently have an opportunity available for a Part-Time Pharmacist (15 hours per week). This position, which reports to the Manager, Pharmacy Services will provide a range of duties and services including, but not limited to the following:

  • Consult and collaborate with physicians, nurses and all members of the health care team to ensure appropriate and effective medication therapy for all hospital patients
  • Provide drug therapy consultative services and respond to drug information requests from all members of the health care team
  • Provide individual patient/family teaching regarding medications as required.
  • Act as a resource to hospital staff regarding medication use, medication management practices, legal and financial aspects of medication use
  • Participate in assessment of antimicrobial use, both on an individual patient basis and as part of the organization-wide Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Educator and Diabetes Educator in planning of staff or patient education programs.
  • Participate in audits of medication management practices to ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures and ensure all hospital medication management services operate in accordance with legal requirements, accepted safety practices and professional standards of practice.
  • Ensure a patient focus in all interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, supervise the daily operations of the Pharmacy Department
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required
  • Current registration and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
  • Hospital Pharmacy Residency Certificate preferred
  • A minimum of one year experience in a hospital pharmacy practice required
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computerized pharmacy systems
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and to assess situations/problems efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to perform work in a manner that is consistent with ARH’s Patient and Family Centred Care approach and aligns with our values of Honesty, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well within an inter-professional team and to foster effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions



Salary:  To be discussed

Terms of Employment:  Part-Time, Non-Union
