Service Description:
|
Youth employment and social support, as well as hands on job training * For the first six weeks of the program participants will spend time at OCH in group workshops or one on one sessions with the employment support staff to build employment and job retention skills, including, but not limited to, organizational skills, stress management, receiving feedback, resume building, job searching, and interview skills * Participants will also complete a range of professional certifications including SmartServe, WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Financial Literacy, and Conflict Resolution
The remaining 12 weeks of the program (18 weeks in total) is spent working in a job placement of the participant’s choice, based on their interests, where they will receive follow-up support from OCH’s employment and social support worker
The program is designed to give participants the skills needed to retain a job and succeed in a work environment long-term * aims to provide participants with the requisite tools and resources to overcome obstacles through the skills and certifications workshops, and by supporting them in the workplace to help them address any issues related to their new employment * all participants have a social support worker whom they can meet with on an as-needed basis to tackle issues pertaining to life skills or general social supports
