Service Description:
|
Non-profit community hospice providing free hospice palliative care, caregiver support, grief and bereavement services, volunteer support and community programming
Available to persons living with a life-limiting illness and their families
Visiting Hospice: Trained hospice volunteers provide support in clients’ homes including private homes, family members’ homes, seniors’ apartments, long-term care homes and other community settings * companionship, practical and emotional support, and support for family caregivers
Residential Hospice: two-bed residential hospice suite located within St Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay * Professional nursing care available 24 hours a day through St Francis Memorial Hospital, with MVHPC staff and trained hospice volunteers providing additional care and support
Caregiver Support: One-to-one caregiver support available to caregivers who request assistance * Services include help navigating health-care services and options, education and emotional support, and in-home volunteer respite
Grief and Bereavement Services: free grief and bereavement support to children, youth, adults and families throughout the Madawaska Valley and surrounding communities
Services include one-to-one grief and bereavement support and counselling, structured grief support groups, children and youth grief support, family grief programming, grief retreats, community grief education and presentations, memorial events, telephone and email check-ins, peer support, lending resources and legacy activities
Programming is offered in a variety of formats and is developed to meet the needs of individuals and families across different ages, circumstances and experiences of grief * Support may be offered in-home, virtually, in clinic space or through community-based programs and events
Medical Equipment Loan Program: equipment is available for loan to community members, subject to availability
