Service Description: Offers Ottawa families an affordable path to homeownership —a permanent solution to housing instability

Provides an opportunity for families to move into homeownership by building homes through the Affordable Homeownership Program * Program participants purchase their homes at fair market value and commit volunteer hours on the building site or with other Habitat projects in lieu of a down payment

Also operates the ReStore, a local department store destination for affordable furniture, home décor, clothing, and building materials * also accepts donations of new and gently used home goods from the public and corporate partners * The ReStore is open to the public in

All profits generated go directly back into Habitat Greater Ottawa, helping more families access safe and decent housing

Eligibility / Target Population: Total household income sufficient to cover the cost of Habitat homeownership * Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident * Must be a first-time homebuyer and current renter * At least one adult in household with a minimum 2 years of full-time employment history in Canada * No recent bankruptcies * Living somewhere that does not meet the family’s needs * Able and willing to contribute 500 volunteer hours
