Service Description: Services for children with complex needs, and links to information about the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) including Foundational Family Services, Urgent Response Services, Caregiver Mediated Early Years (Social ABCs), and School Support Services

Location of services:
  • Satellite CHEO facilities
  • In home for families in rural areas
  • Via virtual service when clinically appropriate

Services requiring an Autism diagnosis

Early Years Services
Early Intervention program for children 12-42 months old * helps children with ASD develop communication and social skills

Foundational Family Services (FOFA)
Workshops and brief, consultative services covering a wide range of ASD-related topics and commonly experienced challenges

School Support services (SSP)
Brief consultative services that help children and youth (of any age) become more comfortable and confident in school environments

Urgent Response Services (URS)
12-week support for families experiencing recent escalation of high-risk behaviours

Extensive Need Service (ENS)
Multi-disciplinary service in partnership with McMaster Children’s Hospital and Holland-Bloorview Kids * serves children/youth and their families with complex profile needs

The goal is to provide wrap-around care, with a multi-disciplinary team, to support children/youth and their families with challenging or interfering behaviour(s) and unmet needs

Eligibility / Target Population: Children or youth 17 years and under with Neurodevelopmental Needs

Children must live within the Eastern catchment area of Ontario, which includes Ottawa and the counties of Renfrew, Stormont, Dundas, Glengary, and Prescott-Russell
Languages: English * French
Language Notes: French programs offered * French website * Interpretation services available in other languages
