Service Description: Access centre to apply for OESP and LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program), a one-time emergency financial assistance program * maximum grant is $560 per fuel per household per year; grant is credited directly toward energy bill * customer must be at risk of disconnection to be approved for assistance * assistance is dependent on meeting criteria and availability of funds * all decisions can be appealed * Funds are first come first serve, clients should reach out as soon as they have a disconnection notice

Application: Pre-screening by telephone prior to in-person interview * Documents required for interview include photo ID, proof of lease or mortgage, proof of household income and recent bank statement

* Cornwall Electric and Rideau St Lawrence Distribution customers needing financial assistance to pay their electricity bills should contact United Way of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry at 613-932-2051

* Hydro One & Union Gas customers throughout Ontario should contact the United Way of Greater Simcoe County toll free at 1-855-487-5327
Eligibility / Target Population: May be available to low income individuals and families who are in arrears with Enbridge, Hydro One, Union Gas or Cornwall Electric energy bills, who have recently received a disconnection notice, and whose personal circumstances make it difficult to pay the bills * call to assess eligibility * clients can only apply for LEAP once per calendar year
