Service Description: Grant Assistance Program (G.A.P.): Provides financial help to individuals of all ages with physical disabilities who require special needs equipment to maintain or improve their quality of life * Supported primarily through donations and specific fundraising activities

  • STRIDE Wheelchairs Plus Recycling Depot: Accepts donations of used medical/health equipment and if requested issues tax receipts, for the fair market value of the item. Equipment is thoroughly cleaned, repaired, and made available for purchase or "payment-to-purchase plan" basis (some restrictions may apply) at affordable prices to individuals referred
  • Input from the client's occupational therapist is required so that equipment ordered meets the individual's requirements. See website for details on what can be donated and how to make a donation

Fees: Delivery charges (city limits) $35 one way, $45 both ways
Application: Appointments for Wheelchairs Plus can be made by email or calling

Grant Assistance Program requires fully completed applications and referrals from therapists or social services * These are reviewed on a first-come monthly basis. Expiry date for approved grants is four months * Cost-share with other agencies and/or community resources when individual equipment costs are prohibitive and present a great financial burden
Eligibility / Target Population: Grant Assistance Program: Low-income individuals, those facing deterioration in their physical condition which necessitates on-going changes in equipment, or those whose equipment costs are prohibitive and present a great financial burden.
