Service Description: Francophone association for parents of dyslexic children and other learning disabilities

Provides information to parents and professionals about learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysorthographia, dyspraxia, dysphrasia, attention-deficit disorder (ADD)/attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)) * teaches and supports parents and francophone educators * encourages early detection of learning disabilities in order to assure that each child has the tools to succeed * informs about the symptoms linked to the different forms and levels of dyslexia * explains the different teaching strategies and adaptive methods that can be used to help students at risk 

Activities:
  • in-person conferences or virtual conferences
  • virtual information and sharing sessions
  • support to parents, in person, by phone or email
  • training for parents
  • keeps members updated via email
  • produces lists of community resources
  • represents parents and their children in different fields in education and early childhood education

NOTE: Since 2020, conferences, information sessions and training are done virtually (vis ZOOM)



Fees: Membership - $35/year * Activities fees * members: free or half price depending on activity * non-members: fees vary according to activity

Eligibility / Target Population: No restrictions * Members are parents/tutors of dyslexic children or children with other learning disabilities, teachers, educators and any person who has in mind the children’s educational and personal success * during activities, persons who understand French

Language Notes: Reception, in-person meetings, phone communication or emails are bilingual * conferences and information and support evenings as well as website in French only
