Service Description:
|
Literacy and basic skills training, including reading, writing, numeracy, and computer skills * The program helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education, and greater independence
Free one-on-one tutoring * Volunteer tutors meet with their learners once a week for two hours at a mutually convenient time and place such as a branch of the Ottawa Public Library * Volunteer tutors attend an orientation session and participate in training workshops several times a year * Learning materials and ongoing tutoring support provided

Primarily serves adult learners wanting to improve their literacy and numeracy skills to achieve goals of further education and training, employment or increased independence * must have facility in English and literacy skills below Grade 12 of the Ontario Curriculum * must have strong listening and speaking if an ESL learner
