Service Description:
|
Provides young people in need with an opportunity for personal development through friendship with responsible adult volunteers * fostering friendships via recreational activities * personal development workshops and participation in community events
- Big Brother/Big Sister: Girls and boys (6 - 14 years old) are matched with a responsible adult volunteer for friendship * Meeting once a week for a minimum commitment of one year * each outing lasts two to four hours and is based on low-cost, or no-cost activities * Regular group events are organized to complement the match outings
*MPower Program: Youth, aged 15-24, are matched with mentors to help encourage, empower them to identify their strengths, explore their passions, and achieve their goals as they journey towards adulthood. This two-year connection creates a supportive relationship built on mutual respect and helps you develop relationship skills and connections essential for successful transition to independent adulthood. Must be available 8 hours each month, with 4 hours being in-person contact
- PRISM: mentoring program for the 2SLGBTQ+ community * a community and school-based program * Children and youth who identify as 2SLGTBQ+ are connected with an adult mentor who also identifies as 2SLGBTQ+ for a one on one mentoring relationship * Through regular outings, the match will foster a friendship that is supportive, empowering and fun
- In-School Mentoring: Mentors 18+ are placed to nearby elementary and high schools to help students build confidence through engaging activities * Children who participate in the program benefit from a friend and role model who will help them increase their self-esteem * strengthen their school learning and enhance their social skills * Only 1 hour each week for school-year commitment
- Meet You In School: College and high school coop students can complete their college placement with the organization, meeting with students 1:1 at nearby elementary and high schools to help students build confidence through engaging activities
